Orchard offers the benefit of modularity. Orchard CMS already hosts many third party modules that can extend your system. You can also easily develop custom modules and integrate them with your Orchard Collaboration portal. Using the custom modules, your users can integrate data from other software and services into your Orchard Collaboration portal and vice versa.
Central Desktop offers API-based integration. It has a SOAP-based Open API that lets you integrate with any third-party platform that also has an Open API. Your IT staff can write API calls that automatically create, read, update, and delete Central Desktop items, including users, workspaces, tasks, milestones, comments, events, and database records.

You should note that while both Orchard Collaboration and Central Desktop may provide an excellent array of features each app could be designed for a different business size. If you are analyzing various solutions you should give some attention to a business type they are meant for. Certain features may scale up effectively for large enterprises but if you own a small or medium company it’s usually more sensible to refrain paying for advanced functionalities that you may never actually use.
